Annual Median Income

Cint uses the median household income to provide a point of comparison between income-earners in each country.
Where the mean income average is the sum of all parts (or aggregate income) divided by the number of items (or income earners), the median average is the point that divides the population into two groups; half of the population makes an income below the median income amount, and half makes more than that amount. The median income is seen as a better indicator as it avoids the effect of dramatically high or low values.

July and August are traditionally when the Norwegians take their holidays. For this reason, the response rate during these months is much lower than the rest of the year.
You may also want to keep these dates in mind as they might affect the response rate and your success in launching an online research study in Norway.

Nice to Know about Norway

Norway is known for gender equality within the workforce. In 2002 67% of women participated in the workforce, particularly full-time. This corresponds with the international trend of women becoming more career focused and making it a priority to balance work and family life.

Currently, the national unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the global economy at 3.6%!

Norway has also become known for their aggressive environmental protection and sustainability policies. Although the country is not a member of the European Union, it has implemented and surpassed several of the environmental initiatives the Union sees as vital. Furthermore, Norway was fifth in the 2010 Environmental Performance Index, a measure of the performance or effectiveness of a country’s environmental policies which range from reduction in air, water and noise pollution, climate change, animals and species survival, hazardous materials and more! The efforts have paid off, not just in terms of contributing to a healthier planet, but in maintaining the gorgeous landscapes the country has to offer. In 2006, The National Geographic Society’s Center for Sustainable Destinations released a study that ranked Norway’s Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord the top landmark heritage site in the world. For thousands of years, vast glaciers carved long, deep valleys and mountains that continue to attract tourists year after year; the UNESCO World Heritage advisory board simply states that the Norway fjords are “among the most scenically outstanding anywhere.”
